The painting is created through a meticulous six-step process, where each layer is allowed to dry before the next one is applied. First, I apply a base color to the linen canvas and create color nuances using both lighter and darker tones. Then, I sketch the main motif and the shadows on the surface using markers and charcoal as writing tools. I add paint and refine figures and shapes in the next three steps. I use a mix of transparent and opaque colors, which are layered together until the motif is completed. I adjust the final details and colors to add extra depth and finesse to the work. To protect against UV radiation, 2 layers of lacquer are applied to the surface.
I always use art materials of the highest quality. This is essential to achieve deep, intense colors and an impressive sense of depth in the motifs. The choice of quality materials also ensures that the painting retains its quality for many years to come. The paint and mediums come from well-reputed manufacturers of artist paint and contain a high concentration of genuine color pigments. The linen canvas that I use has Italian roots. It has a rough texture and solid strength that can bear the weight of the paint. The frame is made of European pine and is assembled with finger-jointed joints, resulting in a firm frame. The wood is FSC-certified and is dried down to 12%, which makes the frame ideal for hanging on indoor walls.
